It was a great year in 2018 for AOSAP. Many events were successfully done with good comments. The total number of education events in the whole Asia Pacific region in 2018 was 53 including regional courses, CEP and FEP with 623 faculty members and 3,356 participants. Regional specimen course was held on 17―20 August in Thailand, which was designed based on the results of the needs assessment gathered from AOSpine AP members. All the participants fully enjoyed these 4-day cadaver workshops with experienced faculties from our region. In 2019, we will prepare 3 specimen courses for our members. One will be case based specimen course in coming late July, where you can see the case presentations of real severe deformity cases before the course and try your treatment strategies on specimens. Also, we are planning two other specimen courses in our region with collaboration with other international spine organizations. Our education contents are getting much closer to your needs and interests in your daily practice.

AOspine Asia pacific had another glorious year of educational activities in the year 2018. Overall, 53 events involving 623 faculties, 3,356 participants were conducted at AOSAP region including training 46 faculty/chairpersons in the FEP & CEP programs represented from 12 countries of the regions.
We had a successful AOSAP-organized symposium on Craniovertebral Tumors at GSC which was well-received by the participants. Members of AOSAP actively participated in the majority of the courses in GSC which was chaired by AOSAP member, Dr Paul Thng.
Highlight of last-year program was successfully running "Regional Cadaver Course" at Chiang Mai, Thailand with more than 70 participants participating for the different countries of Asia-pacific region. The course for the first time was conducted in 2 batches over a period of 4 days due to oversubscription of the participants. Unflinching contribution of energy and time of the faculty from the region was appreciable. The feedback from participants and faculty was overwhelming with the use of "Need-based assessment" from the participants to draw the curriculum of the course.
2 pilot Hospital-based Courses were conducted one each at Malaysia and Japan with excellent feedback with respect to “learning curve” in surgical procedures using tissue models.
Another important decision which was agreed by the education committee was designing the Matrix System for the selection of "Best Educator of the Year" in the region without any bias.
There is progressive increase in the participation of neurosurgeons in all activities of the AOSAP both at delegate and faculty level in the region due to constant encouragement from the Education Committee.
