A Look Back at 2019
Chairperson of AOSAP Community Development

Since I took over as CD chairperson Asia Pacific in August, there has been a whirlwind of activity. We have stabilized our membership and are the largest group of AO Spine surgeons in the world, our numbers stand at 2,092 which is 4% higher than 2018. I am eagerly looking forward to 2020, where we plan to associate with many local societies apart from the National Associations and look to taking AO Spine to smaller towns and cities to reach out to the large pools of residents and trainees who are eager to learn and be a part of our Organization. We will also be starting our “Women in Spine “ initiative, the first of its kind in Asia Pacific, and hope to bring many more promising women surgeons into the mainstream of education and research worldwide. Collaboration, Cohesiveness and Community service will be my motto as a way to forward Community Development. I look forward to my term as CD Chairperson Asia Pacific, 2020 and beyond and hope that in my own small way, will be able to take it to greater heights.
